Made it to Air: Apparently, it had a 13 episode run in Canada in 1989.
Every few years, somebody comes up to the original-only-to-themselves idea that there needs to be a game show where celebrities tell wacky stories, of which one is true. This version comes from Canada and features the not-often-used-enough deli theme for a game show. Your host is Pat Bullard, the only man alive who can out-bland Alan Thicke. Two celebrities barely even known to Canadians are joined by Tommy Chong, who apparently needed to do some community service before he was allowed to leave Canada. It was unclear whether this pilot was meant only for Canada, North America, or was an existing episode re-purposed as an American pilot.
After an overacted introduction by the waitress "Lovely Cindy" (it's what her nametag says), a category is given and the three celebrities have a story to tell, of which only one is true. The customers of the deli, a.k.a. the 90-some members of the studio audience, then vote on what story they think is the correct one by spinning a dial on their table that was not hooked up to anything. The audience members who voted correctly split $1,000 amongst themselves per question. This is done three times.
After the game was completed, time was killed by asking individual audience members whether or not an "outrageous" statement was true or baloney. If the audience member guessed correctly, they would win a "fabulous prize". Since on this episode nobody guessed correctly, we'll never know what that prize was.
For the one of the 3,812 pilots that have attempted this format, it's not bad, but it's not great, it's an inoffensive small portion of entertainment. So pretty much Canada in a nutshell.
